1. Leaves or Foilage

Monstera adansonii

The Leaves of the Monstera Asansonni are generally thick, rough in structure, have narrow holes, Wavy at edges, It have more leaf than hole, leaves are smaller and have a more elongated, oval shape with distinct, oblong holes or fenestrations along the edges. Holes are usually larger and more irregularly shaped compared to Monstera obliqua.

Leaves are usually 3 to 5 inches long and 1 to 2 inches wide.

Monster obliqua

The leaves of Monstera obliqua are generally Thinner like paper, Delicate, and have Rounder holes, Straight edges, and more holes than the leaf. Leaves are larger and more elongated than those of adansonii. Leaves also have fenestrations, but the holes are typically smaller and more uniform in shape, often perfectly round or slightly oval.

Leaves can be much larger, ranging from 6 to 12 inches long and 2 to 3 inches wide.

2. Flower / Inflorescence

One easily distinguish between these two plants by the number of flowers on the spadix. These plants are belong to the Araceae family and always called are aroid family they have characteristic inflorescence.

Flower is kind of protected by spathe like the one leaf just behind like cone behind big long called spadix.

Flower is actually small and appear on spadix. more properly called as inflorescence.

3. Stem / Stolon

Monstera adansonii

The stolon usually called runner or stem is not readily available, it will start to grow when it has more leaves or only when needed.

Monstera obliqua

Here readily forms a stolon called a runner or stem that starts growing and eventually forms a root for the plant.

4. Growth

Adansonii is known for its vining or trailing growth habit. It grows long, slender stems that can climb or hang down. Compared to this has faster growth.

Obliqua also exhibits a vining growth habit, but it tends to be more delicate and less vigorous in its growth compared to adansonii, which has slower growth compared to adansonii.

5. Availablity

Monstera adansonii is commonly found in cultivation and is generally easier to find in nurseries or plant stores.

Monstera obliqua is rarer in cultivation and can be harder to come by. It is considered more of a collector’s plant.

Monstera adansonii is cheaper compared to Monstera obliqua. Monstera Obliqua is 4x costlier compared to Monstera adansonii plant.
